We wake up in Monument Valley for the start of episode 8. This is such an amazing place — we spent the night in the RV rather than the hotel so we could watch the sunrise over Monument Valley. Truly spectacular, I recommend it!

So we’re down to 5 teams now… and this week if you’re not first into the challenge checkpoint you’re definitely in the challenge so it’s gonna get interesting!

The Charger boys start off the day with a nightmare: car trouble. But Mike saves the day and gets it fixed in 7 minutes.

Car trouble for the Charger

The boys in the Lotus come up with their ‘Poison Arrow’ strategy. They know they’ll be in a challenge if they don’t come in first so they decide to come in last. They’re confident they can win any challenge and give their poor time to their competitor. It will effectively be a death sentence… Great strategy and guts!!!

The Charger boys miraculously work their way through the field to get to the checkpoint first… great driving! So they put the F150 vs the Trans AM, and the Olds vs the Lotus. The Olds brothers are super pissed and swear vengeance! The Charger boys better hope the Olds is eliminated tonight as they will do anything the screw the Charger boys over now.

The ‘Bull in a Ring’ challenge is a tricky precision driving test and the Olds gets totally out-driven by the Lotus. Now the Olds is stuck now at the back of the pack with 25 minutes to make up. It’s not impossible to crawl back up the grid, but it’s gonna be tough.

The ‘Bull in a Ring’ challenge is a tricky one

The Lotus totally out drives The Olds

On the next leg, Team Lotus feels they’re ahead of the pack, so they skip the time bonus. They’re back to their normal, ‘lets argue until we drop’ routine in the car, getting lost, asking directions. They’re low on fuel and need gas — the pendulum has swung the other way and they’re feeling the heat!

The Trans Am and the Olds brothers get the only two bonuses, and they’re worth ONE HOUR each. The Olds boys are right back in it!

Meanwhile the Trans Am and the Olds both get pulled over by the police again. Morgan voices her opinions on the po-po again… not sure I want to be in a car with her with police around.

Pulled over by the police

So everyone finally gets into the checkpoint at Flagstaff and it’s close… really close. There’s real animosity now between the Charger and the Olds, Jim from the Charger even tells Andre, “Your ass is going home!” It’s down to the Lotus and the Olds — and, unbelievably, the Lotus goes out!!!! The Lotus getting lost and not going for the time bonus gave the Olds boys a chink of light and they took their chance.

Watch out Charger!

I have vivid memories of Flagstaff. I was driving through when the rains washed out I-40 west of the flagstick causing s detour south towards Phoenix. Like a dumbass I followed the detour all the way to Ashcroft (I call it, "Ashcan"). I should hve just gone on to Phoenix and taking I-10 and CA 60 to Orange County.

I'm glad the Lotus is out. All that is left is American Iron.

Hopefully I can catch the replay this weekend. I missed the original airing. I know, my bad.

I love it.... Lotus is out.... What amazes me, is that in my opinion, that car should have won the whole damn thing......

Here's the thing with the Poison Arrow tactic: Had they taken more time, it would have worked.

Another half-hour or so of sandbagging would have sunk anyone. As it is, the half-hour they DID sandbag was small enough that Team Olds was able to overcome it.

I love it. I hated those two.

i wanted the lotus to win, now i just want anybody but the truck...it just doesn't seem right.

the alsops seem likely to pull it off to me now.

Yeah, the Alsops navigation skills are quite remarkable.

Yeah I'm sad to see the Lotus go too, great car (along with the M3), kicked azz cheeks on the challenges. The guys were annoyingly cocky, but they was still cool to me.

My girlfriend wants the Mario brothers in the Olds to win and I'm rooting for them too, but my bet is on the Alsop's. Just hope the Olds outlast those wormy Charger dudes.

And if that damn truck wins I'll set fire to SpikeTV headquarters, ha ha! Just kidding guys.

The final irony will be when the F150 wins the show but loses the victory when a competitor reveals video of them speeding.

With the Lotus out, I really don't care who wins. That car was awesome.

You had to love it when the dot for the TA was out in the middle of nowhere, not anywhere near a route that they were showing.

Buh bye Lotus drivin dickweeds. The Olds boys were really growing on me, but I am reconsidering after the bitch fit over the challenge match ups. O.k., they haven't been getting much respect and they were kinda left out of the original "American muscle" alliance. Suck it up though boys, there's money on the line and everybody is there to win. Anyway, it's anybody's game now and things are definitely getting interesting. My random guess -- Charger (by far the baddest car from day one) goes down next.

charger wins it all

its only crap that's left

Personally I think the Mario brothers are a couple of whiny little bi*ches. If they or the Alsops win I will be super pissed. The Charger deserves to win it all or at least the Ford guys. It would be great to see some Texas boys take it to the end!

I had high expectations that Bullrun would be fast and furious with a race to the finish. But with the rules of obeying speed limits etc, the show should be called Bullstroll, bullwalk, hmm anyone? Yes, it was good overall but please, make it a REAL RACE Arrgh. :( My grandma could win in her 82 Pinto wagon with a flat.
